Release of the First Stable Version of GeoGirafe
After an active development phase and a promising Release Candidate, we are pleased to announce the release of GeoGirafe 1.0.
With this first LTR release, GeoGirafe reaches an important milestone and establishes itself as a structuring open-source project within the geospatial ecosystem. It positions itself as a key tool for building cartographic interfaces based on web standards (WMS, WMTS, vector data, 3D, etc.).
Concretely, GeoGirafe makes it possible to visualize web maps and interact with geospatial data in a modern and flexible way.
What is GeoGirafe?
GeoGirafe is an ecosystem of WebGIS components, designed to work both with c2cgeoportal and Georama back-ends, or entirely without a back-end.
At the core of this ecosystem is a map viewer interface offering a wide range of features, including:
- WMS and WMTS map display
- Advanced drawing tools
- Measurement tools
- Advanced feature search
- Cross-section view with LiDAR profile
- Sharing tools (iframe and permalinks)
- 2D and 3D views
- Filtering tools
And much more to discover or develop by integrating your own Web Components or extending the existing ones.
Highlights of version 1.0
This first stable release provides strong guarantees in terms of:
- A smooth and responsive UX/UI
- Automated code analysis, ensuring stability, security, and maintainability
- Fast deployment, thanks to a preconfigured web server
A Growing Community
GeoGirafe is, above all, a community-driven project. Version 1.0 would not have been possible without the contributions of developers, demo users, and everyone who tested the preliminary versions.
The roadmap continues to evolve, with ongoing improvements such as enhanced 3D capabilities, advanced editing tools, and broader compatibility with modern geospatial technologies.
